Dolphins close gap
Placeholder Image
The members of the Ceres Dolphins, Oakdale Gators and Patterson Pirates recreational swim programs battled on Saturday at Ceres High School.

Ceres (787) beat Patterson (134.50) but was edged out by Oakdale (819.50) by 321/2 points during the Mid-Valley Swim League tri-meet.

The Dolphins almost knocked off the powerful Gators despite a lack of training leading up to the competition because of high-school and junior-high graduation ceremonies.

"We're very excited about placing well," Ceres head coach Tracy Bull said. "But we're disappointed because we had a chance to shock the world. That's a team that has routinely dominated us. We were right there."
