Dolphins post impressive times at Sacramento Valley event

The Ceres Dolphins recreational swim club had 44 members qualify for the Sacramento Valley Meet of Champions, staged this past weekend in Woodland.

Ceres sent just two representatives to the prestigious competition last summer.

"The kids did amazing," Dolphins head coach Tracy Bull said.

Individual
Julia Pata was the top-ranked 15-year-old girl swimmer at MOC.

Pata advanced to the championships in all six of her events in the 15-18 division.

Julia posted four personal records.

Pata placed fourth overall in the 100 IM and 100 free, eighth in the 50 free, ninth in the 50 fly and 100 breast, and 12th in the 100 back. She won the B-finals in both the 50 fly and 100 breast.

"She's the greatest swimmer I've ever coached," Bull said.
Kaydence Bispo was the top-ranked 7-year-old girl competitor. She set personal records in all five of her events.

Bispo participated in the finals four times.

Kaydence placed fifth in the 50 free, sixth in the 25 free, seventh in the 25 back, 13th in the 25 breast and 23rd in the 25 fly in the 7-8 girls division.

Emma Silveria (9-10 girls) advanced to the finals in five of six events.

She placed sixth in the 100 IM and 25 breast, ninth in the 50 free, 13th in the 25 free and 25 fly, and 38th in the 25 back. She won the B-final in the 50 free.

Victoria Silveria (9-10 girls) advanced to the finals in four of six events.

She placed fifth in the 100 IM, ninth in the 25 free, 13th in the 50 free, 14th in the 25 breast, 17th in the 25 fly and 22nd in the 25 back. She won the B-final in the 25 free.

Danika Brar (7-8 girls), Abigail Gonzales (7-8 girls) and Camryn Silva (11-12 girls) all set personal records in their respective events.

Brar placed 15th in the 25 fly, 16th in the 25 breast, 22nd in the 50 free and 23rd in the 25 free.

Gonzales placed 13th in the 50 free, 20th in the 25 free, 24th in the 25 back and 26th in the 25 fly.

Silva placed 12th in the 50 fly.

Brett Hartley (9-10 boys) finished seventh in the 25 breast.

Diego Armas (9-10 boys) finished 15th in the 25 back, 20th in the 25 free, 21st in the 50 free and 35th in the 25 fly. He set personal records in all three races.

15-18 girls
Ceres' 200 free relay team of Julia Pata, Annie Connors, Taylore Bentley and Marysa Duncan placed third.

13-14 boys
Ceres' 200 free relay team of Agustin Leyva, Daniel Hagens, Angelo Najera and Tristan Freitas-Scott placed seventh.

Ceres' 200 medley relay team of Leyva, Hagens, Najera and Freitas-Scott placed eighth.

13-14 girls
Ceres' 200 free relay team of Hannah Denton, Katrina Guevara, Gurpreet Singh and Alexa Marquez placed sixth.

11-12 boys
Ceres' 200 free relay team of Donald Cook III, Gary Dodd, Elliot Lewis and Jacob Pfanenstiel placed sixth.
