The Ceres High girls track and field team beat Grace Davis handily, 90-25, in Ceres on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs improved to 4-1 in the Central California Conference standings.

Ceres won eight events.

"We have some good athletes that are doing three or four events," said Ceres coach Drew Brown.

Heather Jones won the 100 hurdles in a personal-best time 16.57 seconds and placed first in the 300 hurdles in 55.8 seconds. The freshman ran injured.

"She pulled a muscle in her hip flexor," Brown said.

Megan Gunzenhauser won the shot put at 30 feet, 6 inches and discus at 98 feet.

Karrah Brown won the 2-mile race in 12:55 and placed second in the mile in 5:48 and 800 in 2:41.

Jessica Mazza placed first in the high jump at 4 feet, 2 inches and third in the long jump at 13 feet, 8 inches.

Dominika Bonner placed first in the 400 for the second week in a row. She completed the event in 1:09.

The 4x400 relay team of Vicki Morales, Laura Morales, Melanie Casey and Bonner placed first in 4:59.

Melanie Vega, Juliana Trejo and Brandey Fillman placed second (30-5), third (28) and fourth (23-9), respectively, in the shot.

Kyleesha Williams placed second in the 100 in 13.3 seconds and 200 in 28.6 seconds.

Katie Lutes placed second in the 400 in 1:11.

Natalie Alvarez placed third in the mile in 5:51 and 800 in 2:47.

Casey placed third in the 400 in 1:13 and triple jump at 27-10.

Vicki Morales placed third in the 200 in 29.3 seconds and fifth in the 100 in 14.1 seconds.
