Ceres High continued its supremacy over cross-town rival Central Valley in varsity boys tennis last week.

The Bulldogs upped their all-time record against the Hawks to 7-0 on Tuesday, March 31 with an 8.5-6.5 home victory.

"It's different when we play against CV," Ceres High singles star Luis Ochoa said. "People that pass by scream and shout. It makes it more fun."

Ceres High took four of nine singles and three of four doubles matches from Central Valley.

Luis showed killer instinct in pounding Paul Sidhu (6-0), Tony Leon (6-0) and Alex Cunningham (6-1).

Ochoa expected a much tougher match from Paul, Central Valley's No. 1 player. He narrowly won the first game of the opening set, then cruised the rest of the way.

"I didn't think I'd beat him 6-0," Luis said. "I thought it would be closer."

Added Sidhu: "I thought I could get a couple games against him. He was just on."

Wilson Liang defeated Cunningham (6-4). He lost to Leon (7-5) and Sidhu (6-2).

Harman Bains lost to Leon (6-4), Cunningham (6-3) and Sidhu (6-3).

Raul Massie and Jose Cortes defeated Will Berryhill and Heath Sousa (10-4), and Francisco Aguirre and Cesar Zavala (10-3) in doubles play.

Jesus Cisneros and Edgar Cabrera won one of their two matches. They beat Aguirre and Zavala (10-6). Cisneros and Cabrera lost to Berryhill and Sousa (10-4).

Sidhu and Co. are looking forward to the rematch at Central Valley on April 30. The Bulldogs will be favored to win once again.

"We're pretty equal besides him (Luis)," Paul said.
