Hawks double softball win total for previous 2 seasons

Central Valley High School's varsity softball team posted a 1-27 record in Valley Oak League play the past two seasons.

The 2009 Hawks defeated host Manteca 8-4 on Wednesday to produce their first-ever, two-game winning streak in program history.

Seven different players had at least one hit for Central Valley, which improved to 4-9 overall and 2-2 in the VOL standings.

Vicky Ochoa batted 3-for-4 from the plate with one homer, one double, one run scored and four RBIs.

Kiana Lallana finished 2-for-4 with two runs driven in.

Jayme Sprague went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Alexandra Serna singled, scored once and knocked in a run.

Alyssa Long added two runs and a single.

Jessica Berndt and Jazmin Castillo both singled.

The Hawks scored runs in four of the seven innings, including two in the top of the first, one in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Ochoa, the Hawks' ace pitcher, yielded four runs and seven hits, to go along with five strikeouts and two walks.

Central Valley (2-2 VOL) will play host to Sonora today at 4 p.m. and East Union this Friday at 6 p.m.
