Central Valley High School's varsity wrestling program won two of its final three duals of the Western Athletic Conference season.

Patterson never posed a threat in losing 49-27 to the Hawks Wednesday night in Ceres.

"I thought it would be a lot closer," Central Valley head coach Rob Beckhart said.

The Hawks and Tigers had identical records of 3-3 in the WAC.

Central Valley finished in fourth place by virtue of its head-to-head record versus Patterson.

The Hawks took second and qualified for section team duals last season.

"I expected us to be in the top two again," Beckhart said. "But we have such a young lineup. It's hard to get them to realize how good they are and the fact they can go out there and win. I'm very excited about the future. We'll have one of the best teams in league the next couple of years."

Central Valley never trailed against Patterson.

With Josue Hernandez, Anthony Centeno, Rick Brown and Adrian Vizcaino leading the way, the Hawks stormed out to a 24-0 lead.

Hernandez won by pin (5:02) over Eloa Chadwick in the 152-pound division.

Centeno won by pin (1:18) over Zeke Miranda at 160 pounds.

Brown won by pin (1:06) over Jesse Mora at 170 pounds.

Vizcaino won by pin (3:42) over Garret Fowler at 182 pounds.

Central Valley's Jordan Sales, Michael Manzur, Aaron Page, Raul Godinez and Cristian Garcia were also victorious last week.

Sales won by pin (0:54) over Patterson's Andrew Arroyo at 220 pounds.

Manzur won by pin (3:37) over Jordan Conseco at 113 pounds.

Page won by major decision (15-7) over Dylan Christenson at 120 pounds.

Godinez won by decision (11-8) over Josh Campo at 126 pounds.

Garcia won by pin (5:20) over Austin Lewis at 138 pounds.

Page and Godinez are first-year wrestlers.

Hawk teammates Edin Becerra, Cesar Yepiz, Isaiah Gonzales, Louis Gonzales and Luis Torres all dropped their respective matches.

Becerra lost by pin (1:02) to Dallas Hernandez at 195 pounds.

Yepiz lost by pin (5:11) to Joe Neal at 285 pounds.

Torres lost by pin (2:57) to Mark Bettencourt at 145 pounds.

Louis Gonzales lost by technical fall (17-1) to Manuel Cruz at 132 pounds.

Isaiah Gonzales lost by major decision (17-7) to Josh Roberts at 106 pounds.

Coach Beckhart recognized eight senior wrestlers prior to the start of the Central Valley-Patterson dual, including Becerra, Centeno, Hernandez, Sales, Louis Gonzales, Rose Moore, Carlos Osorio and Andrea Rodriguez.
