Beckhart leads Hawks in wrestling

Central Valley’s Caleb Beckhart compiled a 4-2 record in the 144-pound weight bracket of the Pac Coast Wrestling Championships last week in Washington.

Members of Central Valley’s and Ceres High’s boys wrestling programs gained valuable experience while competing out of state this past week.

The Hawks totaled 67 points en route to a 50th-place finish at the Pac Coast Wrestling Championships, staged Dec. 29-30 at the Clark County Event Center in Ridgefield, Washington.

“No medalists, but tons of tough wrestling against state-caliber opponents,” Central Valley head coach Rob Beckhart said. “Lessons learned and new goals have been set.”

Eleven of the Hawks’ 17 wrestlers won at least one match at the 74-team tournament.

Caleb Beckhart posted a 4-2 record in the 144-pound weight bracket.

Rotceh Mendez posted a 3-2 record at 132 pounds.

Charlie Couta posted a 2-2 record at 175 pounds.

Sunny Breshears posted a 2-2 record at 157 pounds.

Emilio Castillo posted a 2-2 record at 120 pounds.

Noe Lomeli posted a 1-2 record at 285 pounds.

David Alvarado posted a 1-2 record at 215 pounds.

Enrique Zavala posted a 1-2 record at 215 pounds.

Sean Vernon posted a 1-2 record at 165 pounds.

Uriah Krigbaum posted a 1-2 record at 138 pounds.

Jayden Mattox posted a 1-2 record at 120 pounds.

Killian Jones posted an 0-2 record at 175 pounds.

Isaiah Ramos posted an 0-2 record at 175 pounds.

Shiloh Khamvongsod posted an 0-2 record at 165 pounds.

Cesar Plasencia posted an 0-2 record at 144 pounds.

Breighdon Swenson posted an 0-2 record 126 pounds.

Isaiah Shirley posted an 0-2 record at 126 pounds.

The Bulldogs placed 78th with a team score of 22 points while grappling at the Sierra Nevada Classic, Dec. 29-30 at the Reno Events Center.

Parker Borges posted a 4-2 record in the 150-pound weight bracket.

Daniel Tubera posted a 2-2 record at 138 pounds.

Hunter Hammons posted a 1-2 record at 285 pounds.

Mateo Leones posted a 1-2 record at 190 pounds.

Anthony Aldana posted an 0-2 record at 132 pounds.

Adamir Jimenez posted an 0-2 record at 120 pounds.
