Ceres High varsity boys track and field teammates Isaac Vizcaino and Aaron Alarcon placed first and second, respectively, in the 800 at the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday in Merced.

Ceres High’s varsity track and field program had a host of athletes set personal records and extend their seasons while competing at the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Veteran’s Stadium in Merced.

“We set 64 personal records,” Bulldogs’ standout Isaac Vizcaino said. “We have over 20 kids going to sections. I’m not surprised. We were beating everyone in league (during the dual season). It’s awesome being part of this team.”

Vizcaino, Josh Garcia, Gonzalo Rivera, Aaron Alarcon, Daniel Yepez, Roberto Tiscareno, Josh Gonzalez, Bryan Erenas and Nicholas Dunn led Ceres High’s boys team.

Vizcaino placed first in the 800 (2:06).

“It’s only my second year doing track,” he said. “I’m surprising myself. Junior year, I ran a 2:17 my first meet. It’s exciting pushing my body to limits I didn’t even know I could go to.”

Garcia set personal records while placing first in the discus (115-8) and fourth in the shot put (37-7).

Rivera set personal records while placing first in the 1,600 (4:44) and fifth in the 800 (2:09.68).

Alarcon placed second in the 800 (2:06.52) and seventh in the triple jump (37-5). He set a personal record in the 800.

Yepez placed second in the 110 hurdles (17.02), 300 hurdles (42.20) and triple jump (39-111/2). He set a personal record in the 110 hurdles and triple jump.

Tiscareno set a personal record while placing second in the pole vault (10-6).

Gonzalez set a personal record while placing third in the pole vault (9-6).

Erenas placed third in the 200 (23.60) and seventh in the 100 (11.70)

Dunn set personal records while placing fourth in the 110 hurdles (17.90) and 12th in the 300 hurdles (49.23).

Samar Singh placed fifth in the 300 hurdles (45.05) and discus (90-5). He set a personal record in the 300 hurdles.

Isaias Jimenez set a personal record while placing fifth in the shot put (37-0).

Luis Yepez placed fifth in the triple jump (38-8).

Argel Arroyo placed sixth in the shot put (34-0) and 10th in the discus (82-10). He set a personal record in the shot put.

Elijah Vas Dinis placed sixth in the 3,200 (11:34).

Miguel Prado placed ninth in the 400 (1:02) and 13th in the 800 (2:25). He set a personal record in the 400.

Fabian Amparo placed 10th in the 3,200 (12:15) and 13th in the 1,600 (5:19).

Fernando Cardoza placed ninth in the 3,200 (12:15) and 14th in the 1,600 (5:20). He set a personal record in the 1,600.

Alex Garcia placed 11th in the 300 hurdles (48.40) and 15th in the long jump (15-7). He set a personal record in the 300 hurdles.

Gonzalo Lopez placed 12th in the discus (80-2) and 14th in the shot put (28-8).

Ceres High’s 4x400 relay team of Aaron Alarcon, Luis Yepez, Isaac Vizcaino and Bryan Erenas placed first (3:38).

Ceres High’s 4x100 relay team of Aaron Alarcon, Daniel Yepez, Luis Yepez and Bryan Erenas placed third (45.88).

Mercedez Wood, Azar Harrison, Alyssa Stiles, Gabby Soto, Bianca De Los Reyes, Destiny Suarez, Shania Evans, Catryna Marquez, Jackie Rodriguez, Makayla Anderson and Kaylee Hunt led Ceres High’s girls team.

Wood set personal records while placing first in the shot put (32-3) and second in the discus (101-6).

Harrison placed first in the 800 (2:27) and third in the 400 (1:00).

Stiles placed second in the triple jump (33-71/2) and fourth in the long jump (15-2).

Soto set personal records while placing second in the 100 hurdles (19.07) and sixth in the 300 hurdles (57.82).

De Los Reyes placed third in the 300 hurdles (53.76) and fourth in the triple jump (32-33/4). She set a personal record in the 300 hurdles.

Suarez placed third in the 800 (2:40) personal record and fifth in the 1,600 (6:07).

Evans placed third in the triple jump (32-71/2) and sixth in the long jump (14-21/2).

Marquez placed fourth in the 400 (1:04) and fifth in the triple jump (31-91/2). She set a personal record in the 400.

Rodriguez placed fourth in the 3,200 (13:59).

Anderson placed fourth in the shot put (28-3).

Hunt placed fourth in the discus (92-1) and fifth in the shot put (28-2). She set a personal record in the shot put.

Mya Robinson placed sixth in the high jump (4-6).

Allison Stiles placed sixth in the 100 (13.69) and ninth in the 200 (28.65). She set a personal record in the 200.

Betzaida Diaz placed ninth in the shot put (25-11) and 10th in the discus (67-2). She set a personal record in the discus.

Bella Curry placed 12th in the 100 (14.31).

Alexandra Lugo Diaz Deleon placed 12th in the long jump (13-21/2).

Ceres High’s 4x100 relay team of Shania Evans, Bella Curry, Catryna Marquez and Allison Stiles placed second (53.62).

Ceres High’s 4x400 relay team of Destiny Suarez, Bella Curry, Bianca De Los Reyes and Azar Harrison placed third (4:35).

Isaac Vizcaino, Josh Garcia, Gonzalo Rivera, Aaron Alarcon, Daniel Yepez, Roberto Tiscareno, Josh Gonzalez, Bryan Erenas, Nicholas Dunn, Mercedez Wood, Azar Harrison, Alyssa Stiles, Gabby Soto, Bianca De Los Reyes, Destiny Suarez, Shania Evans, Catryna Marquez, Jackie Rodriguez, Makayla Anderson and Kaylee Hunt will represent the Bulldogs at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV-V meet this week at Cesar Chavez High School.

Ceres High’s 4x400 and 4x100 boys and girls relay teams also qualified for Divisionals.
