Bulldogs finish 7th in Livingston

Ceres High's varsity girls basketball team avoided finishing in last place by winning one of three games at the Livingston Tournament last week.

"We have a lot of work to do," head coach Aimee Gunzenhauser said. "And need to work more as a team to get to where we need to be."

The Bulldogs topped the Stagg Delta Kings 30-23 for seventh on Saturday.

Ceres High improved its overall record to 2-8.

Bulldog Camry Silva tallied 10 points, three rebounds and two steals against the Delta Kings.

Chrystal Perales chipped in with eight points, four rebounds and one steal.

Jacquelyn Pulido had four points, three rebounds and one steal.

Mya Robinson had three points and two rebounds.

Angelina Ursua had three points, one assist and one steal.

Lauren Gonzalez had one point, one rebound, one assist and one steal.

Vivian Moreno had one point and one rebound.

Harmen Bahia had three rebounds and one steal.

Branda Villalpando had three rebounds.

Ceres High lost 53-49 to Riverbank on Friday.

Silva led the Bulldogs with 15 points, 13 rebounds and two assists.

Ursua added 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Pulido had eight points, six rebounds and one assist.

Perales had six points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Bahia had four points, three rebounds and one assist.

Savannah Zielke had two points and one rebound.

Andrea Duran had three rebounds and one assist.

Moreno had two rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Ceres High dropped its tournament opener, 63-36, to Merced on Thursday.

Perales totaled 14 points, seven rebounds and one steal.
Silva had eight points, 12 rebounds and two steals.

Robinson had four points, one rebound and one assist.

Pulido had two points, six rebounds, two steals and one assist.

Ursua had two points, four rebounds and one steal.

Moreno had two points, three rebounds and two assists.

Gabriela Carrasco had two points and three rebounds.

Bahia had two points, two rebounds and one steal.

Hawks suffer losses
Central Valley's varsity girls basketball team collected one win and two losses against non-league competition last week.

The Hawks notched their first victory of the 2017-18 campaign by topping the Stagg Delta Kings 49-17 on Dec. 11 in Ceres.

Central Valley lost 45-28 to visiting Buhach Colony on Dec. 12.

The Hawks suffered a 60-17 loss at East Union on Thursday.

Central Valley (1-6) will play host to the Oakdale Mustangs this Friday at 6 p.m.
