Hawks improve to 1-0 in WAC

Fueled by a host of forfeit victories, Central Valley's varsity boys wrestling team cruised to a 63-16 victory over Western Athletic Conference-rival Los Banos on Jan. 9 in Ceres.

The Hawks improved to 1-0 in the WAC dual-meet standings.

The Tigers dropped to 0-2.

Central Valley won 11 of 14 individual matches versus Los Banos, including eight by forfeit, two by pin and one by decision.

James Murphy won by pin (0:30) against Isaac Jimenez at 152 pounds.

Edgar Castillo won by pin (1:06) against Santiago Areliz at 285 pounds.

Natanael Lezama won by decision (8-7) against Colten Graham at 220 pounds.

Jesse Vazquez, Sebastian Pena, Anthony Voss, Kyle Hendrix, Christian Uresti, Roman Ramirez, Ryan Palecek and Juan Lezama won by forfeit at 106, 113, 120, 132, 138, 145, 170 and 195 pounds, respectively.

Nathan Curry lost by pin (1:38) to Saul Madriz at 160 pounds.

Thomas Carrillo lost by pin (2:24) to Gabriel Mendoza at 182 pounds.

Michael Duran lost by major decision (16-6) to Sebastian Vergara at 126 pounds.
