Ceres High cagers take down Delhi 51-40

Ceres High School's varsity boys basketball team wrapped up non-conference play with a 51-40 win over visiting Delhi on Dec. 29 at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium.

"I'm satisfied," Bulldogs head coach Julio Marquez said. "We got a win. There are still things we need to work on. We have to eliminate the turnovers."

Ceres High improved to 3-10 on the year.

Delhi dropped to 1-9 overall.

Sophomore center Cristian Garcia tallied a team-high 16 points for the Bulldogs.

Austin Stiles totaled 10 points.

Haaydn Martinez added seven points.

Ceres High trailed 24-20 at the break.

The Bulldogs led 33-29 heading into the fourth period. Ceres High limited Delhi to five third-quarter points.

Ceres High outscored Delhi 17-6 during the final 6:32.

Tied at 34-all, Stiles provided a major spark by tallying nine straight points.

The Bulldogs will begin the WAC portion of their schedule this week with 7:30 p.m. games against visiting El Capitan (Wednesday) and Los Banos (Friday).
