Ceres High School's freshman boys basketball team added to its win total this past week.

The Bulldogs pounded Pacheco 62-22 on Friday at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium.

First-place Ceres High improved to 17-3 on the year and 7-0 in the Western Athletic Conference standings.

"This is the best freshman team we've had in this high school since the 1980s," Bulldogs head coach Tracy Bull said. "There's a lot of talent. They're so unselfish."

Jefferson Lemus tallied a team-high nine points for Ceres High.

Elijah Niblett, Nick, Jones and Haaydn Martinez chipped in eight points apiece.

Conner Johnson totaled six points.

Blane Abeyta and Christopher Lubinsky both had five points.

Kamio Borja and Jacob Langan scored four points each.

Ismael Ontiveros and Jordan McGrath added three and two points, respectively.

The Bulldogs shot 46 percent from the field, 14 percent from 3-point range and 33 percent from the free-throw line.

"Everybody played at least eight minutes," Bull said. "That was one of our goals."

Ceres High outscored Pacheco 24-9 in the opening eight minutes.

"Our ball movement was excellent," Bull said.

The Bulldogs will play host to Livingston today and at Central Catholic on Friday.

Both games will get underway at 4:30 p.m.

"It's between us and Central Catholic," Bull said while talking about his team's WAC-title hopes.
