Panthers top Hawks
Pacheco swept Central Valley during the opening week of the Western Athletic Conference varsity swim dual-meet season.

The Hawks had no entries in three events, including the 200 IM, 100 fly and 500 free.

"We have a lot of new swimmers," Central Valley head coach Sarah Willems said. "They're learning all of the new strokes. It takes practice. You just can't throw anyone in there."

Central Valley's girls team lost 95-50 to the Panthers on March 6 in Los Banos.

The visiting Hawks had a host of contributors, including Leilani Ortiz, Vanesa Hernandez, Brenda Romo, Lisa Serna, Daisy Robles, Simaran Dosanjh, Carlie Casal, Leticia Sandoval, Kylee Bowmer, Abigail Solis, Roxana Torres and Gabriela Andrade.

Ortiz placed first in the 50 free and second in the 100 breast.

Hernandez placed first in the 200 free.

Romo placed second in the 200 free and sixth in the 100 back.

Serna placed fourth in the 100 back.

Robles placed fifth in the 100 breast.

Dosanjh placed fifth in the 50 free.

Casal placed seventh in the 100 free.

Central Valley's 200 medley relay team of Cervantes, Armas, Tucker and Castaneda placed third.

"I'm hoping to win some meets this year," Willems said. "It might be a middle-of-the-season goal."
