Ceres High's varsity boys volleyball team turned in an impressive defensive performance during last week's non-conference showdown at Hilmar.

Christian Murry, Ivan Arita, Fernando Sosa, Christian Martinez, Gustavo Hernandez, Cristian Garcia and Freddi Lopez combined to make 81 digs during the Bulldogs' 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-23) sweep of the Yellowjackets on Wednesday.

Ceres High improved to 1-1.

Hilmar dropped to 3-6.

Murry tallied 19 digs and five kills versus the Yellowjackets.

Ivan Arita added 16 digs and four kills.

Sosa collected 14 digs, one kill and one ace.

Martinez had 12 digs.

Hernandez had nine digs, 20 assists, two aces and one kill.

Garcia had three digs, nine kills, three blocks and two aces.

Lopez had two digs and one kill.
