CHS boys, girls race at WAC cluster meet

The members of Ceres High’s cross country program raced at the Western Athletic Conference’s second cluster meet of the season on Sept. 28 at Eagal Lakes in Tracy.

Ceres High’s varsity boys finished seventh in the team standings (140) behind Beyer (32), Mountain House (42), Los Banos (98), Grace Davis (117), Johansen (131) and Lathrop (136th).

Rey Soto led the Bulldogs with a 13th-place showing.

He completed the 3-mile race in 20 minutes 10 seconds.

Eddie Ortiz (21:51), Adrian Ontiveros (22:08), Elijah Vas Dinis (22:40), Erick Valladares (22:59), Cesar Bolanos (23:09), Diego Ayala (24:30) and Nathan Martin (28:41) took 26th, 27th, 39th, 41st, 43rd, 46th and 55th, respectively.

Ceres High’s frosh-soph boys finished seventh in the team standings (188).

The Bulldogs topped Johansen (200).

Ceres High finished behind Mountain House (35), Pacheco (57), Grace Davis (75), Los Banos (76), Beyer (141) and Lathrop (183).

Salvador Erenas placed 34th with a time of 17 minutes, 58 seconds on the 2.1-mile course.

Simon Pezzoni (18:19), Gabriel Sandoval (19:13), Julka Atul (19:14), Eddie Garcia (19:42), Erik Bonilla (22:36), Alejandro Plantillas (26:11) and Alexander Vas Dinis (26:22) took 36th, 45th, 46th, 50th, 62nd, 66th and 69th, respectively.

Jaden Stahl led Ceres High’s frosh-soph girls with a second-place showing.

She completed the 2.1-mile race in 18 minutes, 1 second.

Bulldog teammates Maricela Saavedra (20:56) and Alexa Romo (21:28) placed 21st and 24th, respectively.

Frogtown results

Central Valley’s cross country program competed at the Frogtown Invitational on Sept. 18 in Angels Camp.

The Hawks placed 18th with a team score of 489 in the varsity boys large school division.

Willow Glen (92), Pitman (130) and Cosumnes Oaks (130) finished first, second and third, respectively.

Roberto Rosales was Central Valley’s top finisher.

He took 84th with a time of 20 minutes, 15 seconds on the 3-mile course at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds.

Hawk teammates Jeremy Alvarez (20:50), Alexander Contreras (21:21), Daniel Soares (22:29), Alfredo Garcia (22:43), Armando Guajardo (22:43), Kevin Lee (25:39) and Justin Alvarez (25:56) placed 92nd, 122nd, 114th, 117th, 118th, 134th and 136th, respectively. 

Central Valley had just one runner race in the varsity girls division for large schools.

Ashley Anaya placed 69th with a time of 25 minutes, 5 seconds on the 3-mile course.

Mariana Campos took 16th with a time of 17 minutes, 4 seconds on the 2.1-mile course during the frosh-soph large school girls race.

Milianna Rios placed 86th (24:28).

Central Valley’s top finisher during the frosh-soph large school boys meet was Macias Johnson (56th (14:19).

Jackson Stokes was 97th (16:04).
