CHS boys place fourth in track & field County Clash

Members of Ceres High’s and Central Valley’s track and field programs represented Stanislaus County at the County Clash this past week.

Bulldog and Hawk student-athletes competed against talent from Merced County on March 27 at Oakdale High School.

“The County Clash has always been a competitive meet,” Central Valley head coach Luis Calderon said. “It’s a great place for athletes to shine and showcase their potential.”

The Bulldogs had two individuals and two relay teams medal.

Central Valley had one individual medalist. 

The top three finishers in each event took home letterman jacket patches.

“They did an amazing job,” Ceres High leader coach Paul Smith said.

“We’re seeing growth in all of our athletes,” Calderon stated. “I’m always going to be proud of them no matter the results. They put in the work and motivate each other. They have the biggest hearts.”

Ceres High’s boys placed fourth overall with a team score of 53.

Oakdale (85), Pitman (66.5) and Livingston (60) finished first, second and third, respectively.

“We expected to do well,” Smith said. 

Ceres High’s 4x400 relay team of Sergio Torres, Jesus Torrez, Jamesdean Robertson and Cashton Almeida took first.

Ceres High’s 4x100 relay team of Adrian Huesca, Cashton Almeida, Leo Baez and Nathaniel St. Macias took second.

Ceres High’s 4x800 relay team of Sergio Torres, Jamesdean Robertson, Andrew Alfaro and Julian Barrera took second.

Cashton Almeida took third in the high jump and fifth in the 400.

David Rodriguez-Ochoa took third in the 110 hurdles and sixth in the 300 hurdles.

Sergio Torres took fifth in the 800.

Josiah Martinez took fifth in the pole vault.

Central Valley’s boys placed 11th with a team score of 22.

David Alvarado took third in the discus.

Central Valley’s 4x400 relay team of Ernesto Martinez, Daniel Leon, Allen Sanchez and Steve Duran took fourth.

Central Valley’s 4x800 relay team of Eliseo Madrigal, Julian Botero, Carlos Castaneda and Frankie Klino took sixth.

Ernesto Martinez took sixth in the 200 and 400.

Central Valley’s 4x100 relay team of Allen Sanchez, Daniel Leon, Ernesto Martinez and Massimo Catalano took seventh.

Ceres High’s and Central Valley’s girls placed 15th and 20th, respectively.

Jayden Garcia led the Bulldogs, who totaled 16 points.

She took fourth in the 400, fifth in the 100 hurdles and 13th in the 300 hurdles.

Ceres High’s 4x400 relay team of Brooke Kiser, Alyssa Arbaugh, Clarissa Rivera and Jayden Garcia took sixth.

Ceres High’s 4x100 relay team of Brooke Kiser, Camila Rubio, Alexia Arreola and Emily Howey took seventh.

Brooke Kiser took eighth in the 200.

Jadasa Haro took eighth in the pole vault.

Kassandra Torres, Andrea Tejeda, Yahaira Zaragoza and Ayleen Apreza led the Hawks, who totaled two points.

Central Valley’s 4x400 relay team of Torres, Tejeda, Zaragoza and Apreza took seventh.

Airieana Martinez took 11th in the 100.

Tejeda took 13th in the 400.
