Central Valley’s junior-varsity girls track and field team continued its run of excellence against Western Athletic Conference competition earlier this month.
The Hawks totaled 84 points while finishing in third place at the WAC Championships on May 3 at CUSD Stadium.
Central Valley compiled a perfect 7-0 record during the conference dual season.
“We knew they could win,” Hawks’ head coach Michael Mrgudic said. “They kept the momentum going.”
Central Valley’s Giselle Verduzco took first in the pole vault and 10th in the 200.
She tied the league record of 7-6 in the pole vault.
“That was really cool to see,” Mrgudic said.
The Hawks’ 4x800 relay team of Evelyn Rivera, Mia Muniz, Manroop Kaur and Simran Bains took first.
Lilyanna Madrigal took first in the shot put and third in the shot put.
Rivera took first in the 800 and 14th in the 400.
Kaur took second in the 800.
Karen Magallon took second in the 1,600 and 3,200.
Bains took third in the 1,600 and fourth in the 800.
Aubrey Tyler-Pannell took fourth in the 100 and eighth in the 200.
The Hawks’ 4x400 relay team Muniz, Tyler-Pannell, Nevaeh Benavidez and Angela Alvarado took fourth.
Alvarado took fourth in the high jump and fifth in the shot put.
Valeeya Carr took eighth in the 100 and ninth in the 200.
Mia Ceja took ninth in the shot put and 11th in the discus.
Benavidez took ninth in the 400 and 12th in the 200.
Lourdes Gutierrez took 10th in the 300 hurdle, 12th in the 100 hurdles and 16th in the 400.
Valeria Garcia Morales took 11th in the 300 hurdles and 14th in the 100 hurdles.
Ceres High’s JV girls finished in sixth place with a team score of 40 at the WAC Championships.
The Bulldogs’ 4x100 relay team of Melina Castrejon, Teyav Jauregui, Camila Sims and Alexia Arreola took first.
Isabella Ochoa took first in the triple jump, fifth in the long jump and 15th in the 200.
Jauregui took third in the 100 and 200.
The Bulldogs’ 4x400 relay team of Isabella Ochoa, Camila Felix Ochoa, Isabella Sabala and Alexis Hill took fifth.
Sabala took fifth in the 1,600.
Alyssa Arbaugh took fifth in the 300 hurdles and 15th in the 100 hurdles.
Manjot Kaur took seventh in the long jump.
Sims took seventh in the 100 hurdles, ninth in the 300 hurdles and 10th in the 100.
Alicia Castro took seventh in the shot put and 10th in the discus.
Arreola took 10th in the 100.
Ceres High’s and Central Valley’s boys teams placed fourth and fifth, respectively, at the league finals.
The Bulldogs and Hawks totaled 55 and 47.5 points.
Central Valley’s 4x100 relay team of Ivan Quezada, Cesar Fernandez Torres, Julian Gonzalez and Diego Quintanilla took third.
The Hawks’ 4x800 relay team of Quintanilla, Gonzalez, Isaiah Ruiz and Jayden Pires took third.
Julian Contreras took third in the discus.
Quezada took third in the long jump and fifth in the 100.
Enoc Reyes Beltran took third in the 3,200 and seventh in the 1,600.
Killian Jones took third in the shot put and eighth in the discus.
Julian David Lujan took fourth in the shot put.
Santiago Garcia took fifth in the discus and sixth in the shot put.
Fernandez Torres took fifth in the 300 hurdles and 14th in the 100.
Daniel Lopez took sixth in the long jump and 23rd in the 100.
Felix Ramirez took seventh in the discus.
Matthew Velarde took 11th in the 400 and 20th in the 200.
Gonzalez took 12th in the 100 and 14th in the 200.
Alejandro Rodriguez took 15th in the 3,200.
Emanuel Barajas took 16th in the 3,200.
Ceres High’s Aashish Julka took first in the pole vault, third in the 300 hurdles and sixth in the 110 hurdles.
Elian Fuentes took first in the shot put and 16th in the discus.
Malachi Johnson took second in the shot put.
Isaac Cordova took second in the triple jump and ninth in the long jump.
The Bulldogs’ 4x400 relay team of Julka, Jamesdean Robertson, Daniel Plantillas and Jayden Jaimes took third.
The Bulldogs’ 4x100 relay team of Cordova, Robertson, Plantillas and Nieto took fifth.
Robertson took fifth in the 400 and ninth in the 200.
Nieto took sixth in the 200 and eighth in the 100.
Tallon Pittman took sixth in the discus and 12th in the shot put.
Jaimes took eighth in the 800 and 1,600, and ninth in the 3,200.
Joancitd Chiprez took 11th in the discus and 14th in the shot put.
Plantillas took 16th in the 400.
Leonidas Saenz took 18th in the discus.
