Hawks begin track season

Central Valley’s track and field program opened the 2026 season on the road this past month.

The Hawks competed at the 7th Annual Rustbuster Invitational on Feb. 21 at Patterson Community Stadium.

Central Valley’s boys posted a team score of 99 en route to a second-place finish.

David Alvarado placed first in the discus (120-10) and seventh in the shot put (31-11).

Santiago Garcia placed first in the shot put (39-11) and 13th in the discus (80-3).

Central Valley’s 4x400 relay team of Steve Duran, Daniel Leon, Ernesto Martinez and Massimo Catalano placed first (3:45).

Ernesto Martinez placed first in the 400 (53.98) and second in the 200 (24.26).

Daniel Leon placed second in the 300 hurdles (46.38) and sixth in the 110 hurdles (19.43).

Steve Duran placed third in the 110 hurdles (18.06) and long jump (18-8).

Julian Contreras placed third in the discus (110-4).

Central Valley’s 4x100 relay team of Allen Sanchez, Massimo Catalano, Daniel Leon and Ernesto Martinez placed third (47.25).

Central Valley’s 4x400 relay team of Diego Garcia, Allen Sanchez, Sebastian Maldonado and Daniel Gonzalez placed fourth (4:02).

Central Valley’s 4x800 relay team of Carlos Castaneda, Emmanuel Barajas, Frankie Klino and Enoc Reyes placed fourth (10:20).

Enoc Reyes placed fourth in the 1,600 (5:19).

Elijah Plasencia placed fourth in the shot put (36-7) and 10th in the discus (88-5).

Central Valley’s 4x100 relay team of Isaac Ramirez, Ivan Quezada, Sebastian Maldonado and Adam Victorino placed fifth (48.39).

Frankie Klino placed seventh in the 3,200 (11:57) and 11th in the 1,600 (5:42).

Kaleb Mendoza placed seventh in the triple jump (34-6), 11th in the long jump (15-5) and 19th in the 100 (13.37).

Carlos Castaneda placed eighth in the 3,200 (12:00) and 1,600 (5:31).

Killian Jones placed eighth in the shot put (31-7).

Diego Garcia placed eighth in the long jump (16-103/4).

Ivan Quezada placed ninth in the 200 (26.28) and long jump (16-81/2).

Antonio Sanchez placed ninth in the 400 (1:06).

Emmanuel Barajas placed ninth in the 3,200 (13:56) and 15th in the 1,600 (6:44).

Central Valley’s girls posted a team score of 46 en route to a fifth-place finish.

Central Valley’s 4x100 relay team of Kassandra Torres, Andrea Tejeda, Ayleen Apreza and Karla Sarabia placed second (57.36).

Central Valley’s 4x400 relay team of Karla Sarabia, Valeria Garcia Morales, Andrea Tejeda and Ayleen Apreza placed third (4:45).

Central Valley’s 4x800 relay team of Lourdes Gutierrez, Beverly Hance, Kassandra Munoz and Sophia Hernandez placed third (16:39).

Kadynce Piceno placed third in the shot put (23-11) and 11th in the discus (46-9).

Central Valley’s 4x100 relay team of Ari Martinez, Alondra Medina, Valeria Garcia Morales and Sophia Calderon placed fourth (1:04).

Andrea Tejeda placed fourth in the 400 (1:09).

Karla Sarabia placed fourth in the triple jump (26-0) and sixth in the 300 hurdles (1:10).

Kassandra Torres placed fourth in the 100 (14.33) and seventh in the 200 (32.29).

Valeria Garcia Morales placed fifth in the 300 hurdles (1:09).

Lourdes Gutierrez placed sixth in the 100 hurdles (22.29).

Sophia Hernandez placed seventh in the 400 (1:29) and 300 hurdles (1:14).

Harkiran Sandhu placed seventh in the shot put (20-21/2).

Courtney Crane placed seventh in the 1,600 (9:59) and 12th in the 800 (4:36).

Sophia Calderon placed eighth in the 400 (1:43).

Ayleen Apreza placed eighth in the 200 (32.62) and ninth in the 100 (15.48).
