Central Valley’s girls tennis program continued its run of excellence versus Ceres High this past week.

The Hawks dominated the crosstown-rival Bulldogs, 9-0, in Western Athletic Conference South Division play at home on March 1.

“We have a lot more experience,” Central Valley head coach Mike Rodriguez said. “That helps a lot. They have a lot of new players.”

Central Valley improved its all-time record against Ceres High to 11-16. The Hawks lost the first 15 head-to-head matchups.

“Both schools are always excited to play each other,” Rodriguez said. “It’s good to get another win. It’s been a couple years since they’ve beat us.”

The Hawks (2-1) swept all six singles and three doubles matches on their way to shutting out the Bulldogs (0-2-1) this season.

“The girls had fun,” Rodriguez said.
