Central Valley High School's varsity baseball team earned a two-game series sweep of Patterson during the opening week of Western Athletic Conference play.

The Hawks improved to 5-3 on the year and 2-0 in the WAC standings following Thursday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the host Tigers.

Hawk southpaw Michael Ereso allowed two runs, scattered nine hits and struck out four batters with two walks.

Ereso singled on offense.

Raul Godinez batted 2-for-4 from the plate with two stolen bases and two runs.

Jorge Alvarez collected two RBIs and one single.

Kendel Johnson tripled and knocked in one run.

Joseph Montalvo had two singles.

Tied at 1-1, Central Valley scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning and withstood a comeback attempt by Patterson.

The Hawks pulled away for a 16-12 win during their WAC opener versus the Tigers on March 18.

Central Valley, which posted a .400 team batting average, pounded 14 hits.

Michael Collins batted 3-for-4 with two RBIs and one run.

Godinez batted 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run.

Johnson batted 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run.

Austin Burns batted 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Juan Ochoa chipped in with one RBI and two runs.

Ben Ortiz scored twice and singled once.

Ereso added one run and one stolen base.

Roberto Gutierrez had one run.

Ochoa picked up the win as a relief pitcher.
Juan fanned one and surrendered just one hit.

He faced six batters.

Godinez started at pitcher.

Raul surrendered five earned runs and 10 hits with five strikeouts and one walk in five innings.

Tied at 6-all, Central Valley outscored Patterson 10-4 during the final three innings.

The Hawks tallied four runs in the fifth inning and six in the sixth.
