Central Valley’s boys wrestling program remained unbeaten in dual action earlier this month.
The Hawks improved to 12-0 on the season after beating Linden, Summerville, Hughson and Escalon at the Mel Lindstrom Duals on Dec. 19 at Hughson High School.
Central Valley took home a second-place trophy.
Golden Valley, which also collected four wins, was awarded the team title based on tiebreak criteria.
“I’m happy with what I saw from everybody,” Hawks’ head coach Rob Beckhart said. “Hopefully, we can keep it going. We still have work to do.”
Central Valley cruised to a 75-6 win against Linden.

“The kids all had tough matches,” Rob Beckhart said. “They wrestled hard. Luckily, we scored more points than they did.”

Beckhart won by pin (4:36) versus Preston Sizuela at 150 pounds.

Breshears (165s), Garcia (113s) and Davalos (106s) all won by forfeit.
Central Valley managed to win all four of its duals in Hughson despite competing shorthanded due to illness.
Newcomers Couto, Roman, Altamirano, Zavala and Sergio Sanchez all contributed.
“I didn’t have very high expectations going into it,” coach Beckhart said. “We didn’t have our strongest lineup. We used some kids that don’t wrestle varsity normally. They got the opportunity to step in and show what they could do. They performed well.”
