Osvaldo Cisneros and Central Valley’s boys soccer team upset host Lathrop 2-0 in WAC play on Thursday.

Central Valley’s girls soccer team has reeled off 10 straight wins since losing 2-1 at Beyer in Western Athletic Conference play on Jan. 6.

“The girls learned every game we play, the mentality has to be the same,” head coach Miguel Larranaga said. “You have to be 100 percent focused. You have to play all 80 minutes at your max. They’ve been doing that.”

The Hawks improved to 14-4-2 overall and remained in first place in the WAC standings with a 12-1-0 mark this past week following its domination of Lathrop and Johansen.

“I’m proud of them,” said Larranaga, whose team is vying for its second straight conference title. “The girls are working very hard.”

The Bulldogs have been forced to compete shorthanded the majority of the season after losing five players for various reasons, including three to club soccer.
