Senior Mariah Zamora represented Ceres High’s girls track and field program for the final time this past month.

Zamora finished in 15th place with a mark of 33 feet, 81/2 inches while competing in the triple jump at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters Championships on May 23 at Folsom High School.

“She didn’t set a personal record,” head coach Brett Johnson said. “But she competed in a new venue and did her best. It’s a whole different ball game at Masters. There are some amazing athletes there.”

Zamora enjoyed her best season to date with the Bulldogs this spring.

She qualified for Masters in the triple jump.

She placed third in the triple jump (35-3) and ninth in the long jump (15-5) at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division-IV Meet.

She took first in both the triple jump (35-103/4) and long jump (16-31/4) at the Western Athletic Conference Championships.

Zamora broke the WAC finals record in the triple jump.

“To see the smile on her face was awesome,” Johnson said.

Zamora placed second at Divisionals (33-73/4) and fourth at the league championships (33-1) in the triple jump as a junior.

She’ll be remembered as one of Ceres High’s greatest triple jumpers.

“She worked hard,” Johnson said while talking about Zamora’s improvement in the event. “She was dialed in. To accomplish what she did is pretty amazing. She made it to Masters. I’m really proud of her.”
