Seniors lead Ceres spikers past Knights

The Ceres High volleyball team improved its league record to 2-2 with a three-game sweep of the Downey Knights in Modesto Thursday night.

The Bulldogs came out on top 25-16, 25-20, 25-12.

Senior Elisha Ferguson led Ceres High with four ace serves and 14 assists. Senior Krystle Brown had eight kills and six blocks. Senior Meghan Franksen added seven digs.

Anita Johnson had five kills and three aces, Julie Quintanilla had 10 assists, Joane Keokanock had four blocks and Michelle Garza had eight digs for the Knights, who fell to 0-4 in the Modesto Metro Conference standings.

Beyer 3, Ceres 0

The Bulldogs lost 25-22, 25-20, 25-20 to the Patriots at Ceres High School on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

Franksen had six kills and 10 digs, Ferguson had 16 assists and five aces and Jessica Mazza and Krystle Brown each had two blocks for Ceres.

Kelly Simpson had six kills and six aces, and Stephanie Scott had 10 digs for Beyer, the top-ranked team in the MMC.
