The Ceres Sizzle 16-and-under travel softball team tied for third place at the Stealth tournament this past weekend in Delhi.

"I'm very pleased with the girls and how they're playing," head coach Mike Corsaut said. "They're getting better every week."

Ceres won three of five games at the six-team event.

The Sizzle lost 5-1 to the Westside Bullets in the semifinals Sunday afternoon.

Monica Gonzalez pitched. She allowed 10 hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts.

Ceres totaled just three hits on offense.

Yasmine Garcia doubled, singled and drove in one run.

Darian Sawyer singled.

"We could have played better," Corsaut said. "We just didn't hit the ball."

The Sizzle defeated the Turlock Stingrays 14-1 in the quarterfinals Sunday morning.

Ceres scored all of its runs in the first inning.

"Everybody was hitting, walking or doing something," Corsaut said.

The Sizzle pounded 10 hits during the game.

Garcia belted a three-run homer.

Kleier had a triple and two RBIs.

Corsaut, Breanna DeLeon and Isabelle Saldana all plated one run.

Corsaut gave up just three hits and struck out one while pitching a complete game.
