Split for Dolphins

The Ceres Dolphins recreational swim program opened the home portion of its 2008 season with a second-place finish at a Mid-Valley Swim League tri-meet on Saturday.

The Tracy Tritons took first with 852.50 points. The Dolphins (753) topped the Modesto Sharks (52.5).

"We were ahead going into the last of the relays," Ceres coach Tracy Bull said. "In my five years with the Dolphins, that has never happened. We've never been competitive with them. We're really excited where we are at as a team."

Ceres had multiple athletes score points.

The Dolphins had 34 firsts, 35 seconds, 22 thirds, 21 fourths, 24 fifths and 20 sixths.

Ryan Calou, Mayson Meares, Jessalyn Johnson and Haley Fisicaro went undefeated.

Boys 17-18

Ryan Calou placed first in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 breast.

Shane Nunes placed first in the 100 IM and 100 fly, and second in the 100 back.

Aaron Torres placed first in the 100 back, second in the 100 IM and third in the 50 free.

Michael Brogdon placed second in the 50 free and 100 free, and third in the 100 IM.

Miguel Castillo placed second in the 100 fly and 100 breast, and fourth in the 50 free.

Jessalyn Johnson placed first in the 100 IM, 50 fly and 50 free.

Kacey Johnson placed second in the 50 back and 100 free, and fourth in the 50 free.
