Jadyn Shinn had a memorable first season with the Ceres Dolphins recreational swim club.

"From day one, it was obvious she was just so talented," head coach Tracy Bull said. "She just flies across the water. She's a strong little girl."

Jadyn went undefeated on her way to capturing high-point honors in the 6-and-under division at the Mid-Valley Swim League East Championships on July 19 in Turlock.

"It's mind-boggling to watch her swim at her pace at her age," Bull said. "I've never seen any girl have the potential she has. It's scary. She's going to set every record."

Shinn placed first in the 50 free, 25 free and 25 back at the conference meet. She completed the 50 free in a personal-record 39.71 seconds. Jadyn trimmed 3.39 seconds off her previous-best time.

"She's the first girl in the history of the league to go under 40 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle in her age bracket," Bull said.

After playing t-ball for the Ceres Youth softball organization in the spring, Shinn joined the Dolphins to stay active during the summertime.

"The nice thing about her is she's very coachable," Bull said. "She never complains about workouts."

Jadyn practiced on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Ceres High School. She trained with older and more experienced swimmers.

"Out of all the 9-10 girls I have, there's only two that can beat her," Bull said. "She's that dominant."

Shinn's regular-season resume included seven firsts, three seconds and one third.

Jadyn swept the 50 free, 25 free and 25 back at two tri-meets.

She made her debut on May 31 against the Tracy Tritons and Modesto Sharks. Shinn finished second in the 50 free and 25 free.

At the Turlock Sea Dogs Invitational on July 12, Jadyn took first in the 25 back, second in the 25 free and third in the 50 free.

"As long as she wants to swim, she's going to dominate her competition," Bull said. "If she made it to the Olympic trials someday, it wouldn't surprise me."
