The Ceres Seahawks varsity youth football team notched its second straight victory this past weekend.

The Seahawks improved to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the Cen-Cal League AFC standings after routing the Falcons 36-6 Saturday night at Atwater High School.

Atwater dropped to 2-4 on the season.

“Our defense controlled the Falcons all game long,” Ceres head coach Joe Borba said. “They crossed the 50-yard line only once.”

The Seahawks had two 100-yard rushers during the game.

Isaiah Hidalgo ran for 126 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries.

Amare Padilla amassed 109 yards and two TDs on 13 attempts.

Ruben Valenzuela's lone carry resulted in a 24-yard gain.

Phoenix Jackson completed 4 of 8 passes for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Michael Leon hauled in two passes for 33 yards and one TD.

Jaden Merchant had a 33-yard TD catch.

Hidalgo totaled 10 yards on one reception.

Ryan Beffa and Tyrell Williams both collected six tackles and one sacks.

Valenzuela registered six tackles.

Sammy Garcia and Fernando Quintero finished with five tackles apiece.

Ceres shut out Atwater 22-0 during the opening half.

Hidalgo and Padilla scored on runs of 12 and 6 yards, respectively, in the first quarter.

Padilla added a 19-yard rushing TD in the second quarter.

“Our defense set the tone early in the game with several big plays, including a big hit by Ruben Valenzuela,” Borba said.

Jackson threw TD passes to Leon (3 yards) and Merchant (23 yards) in the third quarter.

The Seahawks will face the Manteca Jr. Buffaloes (5-1) this Sunday at Central Valley High School.
