“We had girls who were in the right place at the right time and did big things offensively for us in the semifinals and championship,” head coach Stephanie Prudhel said. “It was a weekend I hope they never forget.”
Seeded first, Sizzle-Prudhel topped Newman and Sizzle Red in thrilling fashion during the final day of their home tournament on July 8.
Ceres rallied for a 10-8 win over Newman in the championship game.
Sizzle-Prudhel edged Sizzle Red 12-11 in the semifinals.
Ceres compiled a 3-0 record in pool play.
Sizzle-Prudhel collected victories against Modesto Fusion, Atwater and Riverbank.
Ceres allowed just six runs.
Cyanna Costello, Danielle Barba, Addisyn Prudhel, Reylena Herrera, Paige Perry, Brooklyn Marquez, Stephanie Garcia, Cheyenne Avery, Kaylee Fuller, Anna Gomes, Emmalina Morales and Selene Valencia all contributed during the course of the Sizzle Summer Classic.
Costello led the way on offense, finishing 14-for-17 from the plate.
Barba collected 13 hits in 17 at-bats.
“I have 11 girls that have never played anything other than rec ball, so for these girls to come out and give 100 percent for five games in three days, is absolutely amazing,” coach Prudhel said.
