Council asked to consider stop signs

Richard Marshall asked the Ceres City Council last week to consider the installation of stop signs for Caswell Avenue at Fifth Street, suggesting that the safety of school children is at stake.

Marshall said crossing the street is difficult for children in the morning and afternoon because of heavy car traffic.

Mayor Anthony Cannella said the city cannot install traffic controls such as stop signs without warrants being met. He directed the request to be considered by the city's Traffic Control and Safety Committee which meets regularly.
