A 28-year-old Modesto man was arrested on numerous gun charges during a traffic stop on the last day of 2023.

At 6:23 p.m. on Sunday, Ceres Police Officer Officer Josiah Mardirosian was patrolling the area of Richland Avenue and Hatch Road when he stopped a GMC Yukon for vehicle code violations. Officer Mardirosian approached driver Antonio Ochoa Vasquez, 28 of Modesto and removed him and six passengers to conduct a search. A loaded semi-automatic “Glock” style handgun was found between the driver seat and center console. The gun didn’t have a serial number and had a threaded barrel.

Vasquez was arrested for illegal possession of an assault weapon, carrying a loaded handgun not registered to him, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle and driving without a license. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
