Alleged metal thief caught on roof
Ceres Cop Car

A 25-year-old Ceres man was arrested on the roof of My Garden Café Sunday evening after an alert citizen spotted him stacking empty crates in an attempt to reach a roof ladder.

Police responded to the 10:30 p.m. call and spotted Miguel Rodriguez on the roof attempting to hide from them. The suspect was ordered to come down and he complied. Rodriguez told officers that his wife was trapped in the vent and he was attempting to find her. Police asked firefighters to come with a ladder truck. A search turned up nobody but police did see that the rooftop air conditioning unit was damaged, signalizing an attempt of metal theft.

Rodriguez was arrested for vandalism and for a domestic violence warrant issued by San Joaquin County.
