Ceres Police detectives are working on making an arrest of the man who grabbed an AM/PM mini-mart store clerk by the hair and pointing a gun at her head before stealing a cash register early Monday morning.

A dark-skinned man, possibly Hispanic or African-American, came into the store at Hatch Road and Richland Avenue at 12:30 a.m. wearing a red and black colored hooded sweatshirt. He walked over to the clerk and put a handgun to the clerk's head and demanded money. The robber took the whole cash register and ran out of the front door. The man ran eastbound on foot and apparently went through the register in the nearby Prime Shine Car Wash parking lot.

Police found the cash drawer along with about $100 left behind in smaller bills and change. The thief had apparently made quick work of removing the larger bills and fleeing before police arrived.
