Arrest made in attempted murder at Nov. 7 party

Ceres Police have arrested the man they say shot at but missed another man during an altercation during a Nov. 7 party held in the 1100 block of Moonlight Drive.

Members of the Ceres Police SWAT team and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Special Investigation Unit served a search warrant Tuesday in the 2800 block of Paris Way in Ceres where they arrested Gerardo Zaragoza, 23, of Ceres. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Center on charges of attempted murder and assault with a firearm.

Investigators determined that Zaragoza and another man got involved in a physical fight at approximately 12:02 a.m. during a gathering at a private home when he fired two rounds from his firearm, missing both times. Zaragoza fled the scene before officers arrived. The victim sustained physical injuries during the fight.
