A 29-year-old Modesto man was arrested Thursday evening after he ran from police and kept them at bay for over an hour when all they wanted to do was cite him for illegally riding an ATV on a public street.

Ryan McIntyre was also not wearing a helmet. He now faces charges of evading police with a vehicle and resisting arrest.

The incident unfolded at 9:28 p.m. when Officer Aaron Pinon spotted McIntyre riding an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on the streets in the area of River and Openshaw roads. Officer Pinon attempted to stop McIntyre with emergency lights and siren, but he led officers on a pursuit which ended in the 800 block of Acacia Street. McIntyre ran into a home and refused to come out despite police orders. He eventually surrendered and was arrested and booked.
