A 42-year-old Atwater man driving in Ceres early Saturday was arrested on drunken driving charges.
At 1:22 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Matthew Myers was patrolling the area of Eastgate Boulevard and Hatch Road when he stopped a Chrysler PT Cruiser for vehicle code violations. Omar Castillo Camacho appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and his breath and car smelled of an alcoholic beverage.
Camacho was given field sobriety tests which he demonstrated in a manner consistent with someone under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Camacho was arrested for DUI and provided a breath sample that was nearly double the legal limit for an adult. Camacho was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
