A 19-year-old Stockton man was arrested Sunday morning after he tried to elude the Ceres Police officer who pulled him over in a stolen vehicle.
At 11:21 a.m., Ceres Police Officer Eric Souza was patrolling in the area of River and Mitchell roads when he located a stolen white-colored Hyundai Sonata traveling eastbound on River Road. Souza followed the vehicle and conducted an enforcement stop on Canyon Court but driver Deangelo Anderson, 19, of Stockton, and an unidentified passenger ran from the vehicle and began hopping fences. After an extensive search, Anderson was finally located hiding in a backyard in the 1300 block of River Valley Circle where he was arrested.
Anderson already had a felony warrant for auto theft. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for vehicle theft, the felony warrant, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.
