A 63-year-old Ceres man with two prior drug possession convictions was back in jail on Monday morning after an officer stopped him on a bicycle and found with drugs and drug paraphernalia.
At approximately 6:38 a.m., Officer Ian Perry was patrolling the area of Mitchell Road and Garrison Street when he stopped Mario Lopez for vehicle code violations. During a routine records check, the officer learned that Lopez had a felony warrant for his arrest. During a search, Officer Perry located on Lopez a glass pipe used to smoke controlled substances and a white crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine.
Lopez was arrested on the felony warrant, and new charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance with two or more priors. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
