Bottle of pills lands man in jail

A bottle filled with someone else's prescription drugs landed a Modesto man in the county jail on drug charges after he was stopped in his car on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Officer Matt Berlier conducted a 929 p.m. traffic stop in the area of Hatch and Richland. Driver Marcus Owens, 43, of Modesto, was driving on a suspended license and his vehicle was towed. While the car was being searched before the tow, police found the prescription bottle with pills. Owens was charged with transportation of a controlled substance.
