Ceres Cop Car

Police are searching for the driver and passenger of a car who fired on a second car as they were both traveling northbound on Moffet Road in front of Mae Hensley Junior High School on Thursday evening.

Police have identified the driver of the suspect car but have not released it.

The victim told police that he was driving at 11:42 p.m. approaching the school when he recognized the the gray BMW sedan in front of him belonged to an acquaintance whom he was having issues with over a girl. Near the campus a passenger popped out of the sunroof with a handgun and fired four rounds at the victim's vehicle. At the time the victim was unsure if any bullets struck his car and he continued following it from a distance onto eastbound Hatch Road. Instead of first calling police he called his girlfriend. The victim eventually called police after stopping at the McDonald's at Morgan Road and Whitmore Avenue. Police met him there and searched the car for damage and found two bullets struck. One bullet hit the front grille and was resting on the bumper while a second bullet hit and broke the driver's side mirror.
