A 40-year-old Ceres man was cited and released to a sober adult after he crashed while allegedly driving while drunk on Christmas Eve.

Ceres Police were dispatched at 11:12 p.m. to the 2000 block of Evans Road for a report of a traffic collision. Sergio Javierleon, 40 of Ceres, was the driver of a 2021 Chevy Silverado pickup which was involved in the crash.

Officer Jose Andrade noticed that Javierleon appeared to be intoxicated from alcoholic beverages and made him perform field sobriety tests which confirmed his suspicions. Javierleon was arrested and gave a breath sample which indicated a blood alcohol content level over the legal limit to drive.

Instead of being arrested, Javierleon was cited for DUI and released to sober adults.
