A Ceres teenager was arrested Monday, Sept. 21 after he tried to flee the officer that he skidded in front of while intoxicated.

At 10:15 p.m. Officer Brian Chandler was on patrol and sitting at a red light at southbound Richland Avenue at Hatch Road. Along came a car speeding up to the red light and skidding into the intersection as the light turned red for driver Renee Lua, 19, of Ceres. Lua then made a southbound turn onto Richland and sped off with the officer in chase. The teen then ran the stop sign at Evans Road before turning westbound when he finally pulled into the side entrance to the apartment complex located at 1757 Richland Ave.

Lua appeared intoxicated and failed a DUI investigation. His blood alcohol content was found to be over twice the legal limit. He was booked on charges of DUI.
