Ceres woman arrested in DUI crash

A 30-year-old Ceres woman was arrested for drunken driving after she caused a crash with injury on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Witnesses said that a silver Buick Regal collided into a southbound 1989 blue Chevy pickup, rendering the driver unconscious with the truck continuing into the intersection at Fowler Road where it struck a street light and the office building of Ceres optometrist Gerald Wing at 1901 Mitchell Road.  The vehicle hit several structural pillars before it came to a stop.  The cab of the vehicle was crushed by the pillars, except for the space the driver was in. The driver of the Regal drove off despite heavy front-end damage.

Witnesses led police to where the Buick stopped where they arrested Erika Soto Garcia who displayed appeared to be intoxicated. She was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for DUI causing injury after a blood sample was obtained.

The driver of the Chevy was treated at a local hospital.
