A 41-year-old Modesto man on probation was arrested early Wednesday after he led Ceres Police on a high-speed chase into the country.

At 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25, Sgt. Travis Hudson noticed a motorcycle traveling southbound on Morgan Road with a missing license plate. Sgt. Hudson attempted to stop the rider, Jim Boner, 41, of Modesto, but he looked back at the officer, ignored his lights and siren and sped off. The pursuit traveled southbound on Morgan Road to eastbound Keyes Road to northbound on Central Avenue. The rider made an eastbound turn onto a canal bank and accelerated. Boner lost control of the motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a sweeping left turn along the canal bank and ran into a dirt field where he laid the bike down.

Sgt. Hudson was assisted by other officers in taking Boner into custody without incident. Boner was found to be on felony probation and faces charges of evading a police officer and probation violation.
