Zachary Lyons (left) and Julio Medina Cruz (right) were arrested on multiple charges.

Two men were arrested during a Thursday evening car stop in Ceres, including the 36-year-old driver who not only had his driver’s license suspended for a prior DUI conviction but who also had switched license plates on the Dodge Caliber he was driving.

His passenger was also arrested on drug charges.

The car stop was made at 7:48 p.m. by Officer Pinon. While patrolling the area of Whitmore Avenue and Eastgate Boulevard, he stopped the Dodge for vehicle code violations. He learned that the license of Zachary Lyons, 36, of Turlock had been suspended for DUI. Lyons was arrested for that charge and for having plates issued to another car affixed to his car.

Passenger Julio Medina Cruz, 36, of Modesto was on searchable probation and found to be in possession of a white powdery substance suspected of being fentanyl. He was booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sales and transportation of a controlled substance.
