Felon in car stop found with gun
Ceres Cop Car

Convicted felon Jeffery Richmond, 38, of Ceres, was arrested early Saturday when he was pulled over in his car and found was a loaded .25 semiautomatic handgun in the engine compartment.

Officer Jesus Salinas stopped Richmond at 1:40 a.m. at the intersection of Ninth Street and Stanford Avenue for expired registration. The officer learned that Richmond, driving without a license, was on Post Release Control Supervision (PRCS). Officer Salinas completed an inventory search of the vehicle prior to impounded it when he found the gun. Richmond admitted owning the handgun and knowing he was forbidden to have it as a convicted felon.

Richmond was booked into the Public Safety Center for being a felon in possession of a firearm, possessing a loaded handgun in a vehicle and driving on a suspended license.
