At least four persons were caught stealing items at the Ceres Walmart in a week's time, said Ceres Police Sgt. Jose Berber.

Walmart store security personnel watched Mary Ann Roush, 34, of Modesto, open perfume from a package and place it inside her purse at 4:15 p.m. on Nov. 11. Roush allegedly paid for other items but walked out without paying for the perfume. She was detained by store security until an officer could arrive and cite her for commercial burglary.

In the second case, Diamond Mary Rodriguez, 26, of Ceres, was cited for theft after a Walmart store loss prevention officer saw her stuff two bottles of soap and a toy into her purse and walk out.

She was released with a citation at 5:27 p.m. on Nov. 13.

The third arrest came when a man was seen shoplifting a wrist watch from Walmart on Friday evening and then lie to an officer about his identity.

At 6:10 p.m. a Walmart store loss prevention officer watched Sampson Rodriguez, 30, take a wrist watch and place it on his wrist and then pass by all checkstands. He was stopped. When the officer came to arrest him, Rodriguez gave a false name but his identification spoke to his true name.

Rodriguez was charged with theft and providing a false name to officer.

Fourthly, an Oakdale man was cited for theft after he allegedly stole a flashlight, a model rocket and other items stuffed into his sweater at the Ceres Walmart store on Friday evening.

At 8:39 p.m. store security saw Jordan Valadez, 29, of Oakdale, conceal the flashlight in a sweater pocket and walk passed the check stands.
