A near head-on vehicle crash witnessed by a Ceres police officer on Wednesday evening, Oct. 22 sent a number of victims to local hospitals.

The crash occurred at 7:45 p.m. at Herndon and Evans roads and was witnessed by Officer Jesse Gutierrez. Injuries were minor and occupants were transported to local hospitals.

Gutierrez was southbound behind a gray 2001 Dodge Dakota driven by Miguel Flores-Perez, 37, of Ceres. The Dodge Dakota slowed down as it prepared to make a left turn onto Evans Avenue and turned in front of a blue 1998 Nissan Quest that was being northbound by Buakhai Bounchanh, 52, of Ceres.

Bounchanh and his two teenage occupants were transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.

Police are still conducting an investigation but it does not appear to have involved drugs or alcohol.
