A man who was squatting in a vacant house in the 2900 block of Hoyle Court was arrested Sunday after he held a knife on the homeowner and was found with drugs.

A 911 call was placed at 6:40 p.m. Sunday by the owners of the house who dropped by to check on the property and found Russell Alton, 22, of Ceres, inside the house and chased him outside. Alton allegedly pulled a fixed-blade knife on the owner. When officers arrived Alton was still in the backyard. He told officers that he was a transient and heard property between tenants and he thought he would stay in it.

Alton was searched and found with a loaded hypodermic needle in his pants. He was booked on charges of possession of a narcotic and brandishing a deadly weapon.
