Inebriated driver asleep at ther wheel is arrested

A 21-year-old Modesto driver was arrested early Sunday after a Ceres Police officer found him passed out drunk in his car idling at Third Street and Whitmore Avenue. Officer Coey Henson was on patrol at 4:18 a.m. when he found Luis Puentes-Lopez sleeping in the driver seat with his foot on the brake. Henson could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming through an open window. He roused Puentes-Lopez and had him put the vehicle into park.

After undergoing field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence. At the time of his arrest his blood alcohol level was 0.19 percent. Luis was was booked for driving under the influence and driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level above .08 percent.
